I just got back from the Food and Wine Conference in Orlando-
I had such an amazing time; I loved the food, the wine and especially the people.
Please excuse my 1 second rant….but my ass is absolutely killing me from the drive. I HATE ROAD TRIPS.
I would rather fly.
Wait, newp, nevermind, I’m ok with road trips. I think I lost my mind for a second and forgot about my flight anxiety because of my sore ass.
So, anyway, at the conference we had a full schedule. The first night we had a great food tasting- I loved the sushi.
We enjoyed a poutine bar for lunch on Saturday. I had a short rib poutine; it was amazing. The potatoes were perfectly fried with just the right amount of salt.
Cheese curds, yo. (There were more curds under the beef, by the way).
Desserts and cocktails, of course-
There were lots of great speakers. I have so many notes, I’ll be organizing shit for days. But it was so worth it. (#foodbloggerproblems)
The Sunday Supper dinner on Saturday night was amazing.
We were served Certified Angus Beef grilled New York Strip steaks, asparagus with Bearnaise sauce, Gator Drool braised collard greens (not actual gator drool; it’s the name of a beer), fingerling potatoes and horseradish mashed sweet potatoes.
We also enjoyed this insanely good salad with microbasil, wildflowers, compressed watermelon, tomatoes and blue cheese with a balsamic reduction and some beautiful wines by Hess Wines that tied it all in perfectly.
AND I finally got to hang out with the Cabot girls (who paid for my conference ticket via a Cabot contest) – Rachael, Carolyn and Candace.
These girls are even more amazing in person – they’re SO much fun!
I will definitely be going back next year.
