I have always had an affinity for hummus – all different types.
Here’s a few for you to peruse…this Roasted Poblano and Corn Hummus, this Sesame Ginger Hummus, and don’t forget Sesame Wasabi Hummus (one of my very favorites). Oh…and did you see my homemade pita bread? Check it out here.
This hummus is so good. It has that black bean bite to it, and a little smoky flavor from the chipotle.
I love smoky.
I made my pita bread again and made chicken gyros with the hummus, feta cheese, tzaziki, etc.
They were SO DAMN good.
Look how fluffy that pita bread is! You should seriously make that, too.
Usually I like a little more lemon than half of one, but this version doesn’t really need it because of the chipotle, in my opinion.
You’ll see what I mean when you make it.

Ingredients
- 1 can black beans, drained
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 lemon, juiced
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp coriander
- 1 tsp salt, more to taste
- 2 tbsp tahini
- 1 1/2 tsp chipotle powder, or you can use some of the liquid from a small can of chipotle peppers
- 1 tbsp Cilantro, chopped
- 1/4 cup olive oil, or more based on texture
Instructions
- Combine everything in a food processor and pulse until smooth, adding more olive oil and salt if needed.
- Drizzle a little olive oil on top and serve with pita bread or crackers.
