I was recently invited to a special blogger event at the Village Tavern in Birmingham.
The restaurant is a pretty well known restaurant in the Birmingham area, however I’ll be honest, I had never been and I grew up here!
It’s in a very popular shopping district called The Summit on busy highway 280, surrounded by lots of shopping and other restaurants.
When I arrived I was promptly greeted by the General Manager, Cedric Castro, and taken on a personal tour of the restaurant. I have to say I was immediately impressed with the ambiance and atmosphere.
The restaurant’s lighting is slightly dim, but in a romantic way. My favorite part is the open kitchen.
There something about watching the chefs cook that make this cozy restaurant experience so authentic. They take a lot of pride in their guests’ dining experience. I LOVE that.
They had a table set aside just for us and a special menu.
And wines gallore…
They have an award winning wine list. They have Wine & Dine Wednesdays when you can enjoy half price wines by the glass, and every Monday through Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 is Top Shelf Happy Hour.
They were such amazing hosts –
The GM, Cedric, was so passionate about the restaurant, as well as the President, Anthony Santarelli. They make you feel like family.
The Executive Chef, Mary Grace Viado Howard, WOW. She’s such a talented chef – the passion she has for her food is unbelievable. I seriously could have talked to this woman forever.
Let me get started with the food – I got to cook with this woman! She set up cooking stations for us to make her pimento cheese and guacamole.
My fave, y’all – Gruyere Shrimp ‘n Grits, AKA “SNG”, which is their most requested dish. After tasting it, I can see why.
Good Lord. These were amazing.
Thai Chicken Nachos – SO.GOOD.
Here’s one of their flatbreads that you have to try. Mushroom and goat cheese – off the charts, y’all.
Ready for desserts?
Here’s their double decker cheesecake –
Key Lime Pie –
Chocolate Torte-
It was a fantastic night and the food was all amazing. I will be going back on my own now, and I definitely recommend it to you.
