Hello there, sunshine. Have you ever had a burger topped with a fried green tomato?
No?
You’re about to.
Ok, so, if I haven’t shared with you, I have a burger fascination. I will find a reason/excuse to grill burgers. Even if I have just recently had one or if my husband may or may not be dieting.
Julie Grimes from Cooking Light inspired this post of mine – yes, she got my wheels churning. She recently shared her best-burger-she-ever-had-experience at Holeman and Finch in Atlanta – a house ground 50/50 brisket and chuck, which sounds amazing – I will be grinding some shit up later this week.
In the meantime, here’s my Mozzarella cheeseburger topped with a fried green tomato – oh, and remoulade sauce.
{see those Frito’s? – buy a big bag of them and dip them in cottage cheese!!!}
Julie, you’re a girl after my own heart, sister. Question – did you have a local beer to accompany this burger? A nice Cabernet? Just curious.
So, we’re about to go down the list of my fave burgers.
Ready?
1. Vestavia Bowl. This would be Vestavia Hills, AL. Holy Lord. This ranks #1 because not only did I hang out here for a few years as a kid – but it’s the absolute perfect combination of a well seasoned beef patty, melted cheese, lettuce, thinly sliced tomato combined with pickles and of course the expected ketchup/mayo/mustard combo. WAIT. They butter the bun and toast it before putting it all together. These are things you just don’t appreciate when you’re a kid. Wish I could go back and tell my kid self what to appreciate.
2. Milos. This is the shit. Eat it. And get tons of the “Milo’s Sauce” and roll around in it.
3. Red Robin Bleu Ribbon Burger. Don’t hate. This LITERALLY is burger porn. I have no more words for this burger. Whether or not you click on this someday you’ll end up eating it and go home wanting it to be a part of your life permanently. Like, you’ll want to marry it.
4. GVD in Hoover, AL. A.K.A. Green Valley Drugs. My Berry High School people will know exactly what I’m talking about. The burgers are fantastic and the shakes are better than Dairy Queen. The end. Just watch out for who you might run into to.

September 29, 2013 at 10:13 AMThis looks amazing. All of my favorite things in one balanced meal. My favorite burger used to be Wendy’s, believe it or not. However, it’s been a decade since I’ve had fast food. I love this place nearby called Local Burger. They make a mini burger that I love.
