Coffee Rubbed Burger

Sometimes the craziest things are paired.

Like….

-Bacon and brown sugar (I love that one).
-Cheese and apple pie. WTF is up with that – that’s just weird – #northernshit.
-Mustard on bologna sandwiches. Who does that?? Oh, wait, Adam Holland  does.
-Toothpaste and orange juice. Yeah, that sucks ass.
-Burritos with rice. Sorry, for some reason that combination has always grossed me out even though I love both burritos and rice. Maybe it’s that double starch thing.

This crazy combo, however, works.
Coffee Rubbed BurgerCoffee and Beef. Yes, I said coffee.

I soooo rubbed some fresh ground beef and Italian sausage all up in some ground hazelnut coffee. And sea salt. And pepper. It’s hard to describe to you what the coffee does as far as flavor, because it’s so different and complex.

You just gotta trust me.
steak2Make sure that you don’t use fat free or low fat mayo – you’ll need the full fatness here to compliment the coffee. And with the Sriracha – Oh.My.

Also, don’t over cook it; a good medium is perfect for this.

This is SO off the charts crazy good.

Hold your horses, Shea! Mustard and bologna are the shit. Apple pie and cheddar are the bomb. Burritos and rice are where it’s at. And everyone knows that grapefruit juice goes better with toothpaste than orange juice!

Coffee and meat are also a great marriage. I’ve even used coffee in my cowboy beans. (After all, that’s what they did back in the day.) The burger looks fantastic, but I still can’t figure out how the people in your home state of Alabama will eat it … considering most of them lose their teeth by age 16.

Oh, dear. Adam, you and I will take this up on another platform. And you’ll be getting your ass kicked.

  2. Although typically I try to cook very health conscious, I agree that sometimes you just have to use the full-fat version of things or you sacrifice all of the flavor! I make lamb burgers somewhat often, will have to try this on them next time!
