Sesame Ginger Hummus and a Giveaway

Recently, the sweet people at Gourmet Garden sent me a package of 11 of their tubes of their herbs and spices to play around with, and offered to send one of my readers the same!

IMGP1005

The giveaway includes Garlic, Ginger, Lemongrass, Cilantro, Parsley, Chunky Garlic, Chili Pepper, Italian Herb, Basil, Dill, Oregano. Imagine what you could do with all these.

I had been craving hummus, so it occurred to me to use one of these to make my own spin on it.

I remember when I discovered hummus. I was 21 years old. So young. So stupid. Aren’t we all at that age?

Anyway, the day I had the opportunity to try it I was hooked. I mean, like I was driving to this pita joint 30 minutes from my house a couple of times a week to get my fix on.

It was ahhmazing. Where had this been all my life?? Had I been hiding under a rock? Why had I not been introduced to this simple-yet-addictive-bean-dip before? At the same time I got hooked on tabbouleh – which is a salad made of tomato, fresh parsley, bulgar, lemon juice and olive oil. Aaaannnd I also discovered babaganoush, which is an eggplant dip. Yes, I know the name is a mouthful, but it’s so delicious.

Kids – you cannot be scared of these things. I tell my children they always need to to try anything and everything. You have to broaden your horizons.

And, no, that doesn’t work all the time on the kids, but I love the fact that my husband puts up with my kitchen shenanigans – he’ll try anything I give him. However, I do know the look on his face when he’s thinking “Shit – not again, ok fine, yes I’ll taste it”.

Bless his little heart.

Now, this hummus is a little out of the ordinary. I combined a sesame peanut sauce with prepared ginger and prepared hummus.

It’s seriously fantastic.

I think it should have it’s own reality show.

I would much more likely make recipes with fresh ginger if I didn’t need to peel and chop it!

I would try this new hummus you posted, plus the classic hummus I have been making for years.
