Foodies to Follow

I was inspired.

A few day ago Adam  from Unorthodox Epicure posted this, sharing my food blog, along with two others, with his readers.

I think THAT is one of the most important aspects of this job; promoting others and being a part of a “community”.

As food bloggers, we can easily become self absorbed, so drawn in to what we’re doing, making, baking, etc. but being selfish is really not our goal. We are all so passionate about what we do – and we want to SHARE it. We cook, we eat, we shoot, we write, we blog.

Then we clean.

Then we do it all over again. But sharing others’ passion makes this whole big food blogosphere go ’round.

Supporting one another is key to running a blog, and we all benefit by meeting new friends, exchanging recipes, tips and new foodies to follow. Adam shared with us his top picks, which include Blythe’s Blog and Cooking on the Ranch.

Here’s mine.

Kim from Cravings of a Lunatic

Bourbon-Pecan-Pie-Milkshake-CoLYes, that’s a Bourbon Pecan Pie Milkshake. A girl after my own heart. Kim is a Canadian, a pistachio lover, and a very creative dessert maker. She’s smart, has a great recipe arsenal and is so very sweet. Oh, and she has a second blog, Kiss My Smoke, which is nothing but grilling.

Did I mention she’s a girl after my own heart?? I want her to invite me to grill with her. And eat.

Genet from Raised on a Roux.

Cheesy_Garlic_Bread_Recipe

Genêt and I met at Food Blog South, here in Birmingham, which was my first food blog conference (I’ve been three times now).

She’s a native New Orleanian living in Georgia with her husband and three children. She shares her authentic Creole recipes, specifically “Finger Food Friday”, a regular post that focuses on laid back, weekend finger foods. I LOVE her accent – and she’s so much fun. She and I traveled to Dallas together for another food conference where I had The Best Meal Of My Life, and the best glass of Chardonnay because she chose it; and she’s not even a white wine girl!

Maureen from Orgasmic Chef

605x404xbriocherolls4.jpg.pagespeed.ic.RUe1MNFsRKMaureen, originally from the US, lives in Australia. Her food ranges from a good mix of really good, simple weeknight recipes to pretty desserts. These are her Brioche Buns made in the Thermomix. Ok, now I want a Thermomix!

Maureen started her food blog after adding a food section to a dating site that she and her husband owned, and it grew from there. Smart girl! You’ll love her. She’s actually one of the first food bloggers that I developed a relationship with; she’s dear to my foodie heart.

Finally,

Adam from Unorthodox Epicure.

EggplantFries

Adam is a quick witted, food lovin’ blogger, who has a hearty recipe list ranging from New York Style Pizza (this is on my list to try, Adam, BTW) to Southern Pimento Cheese. He also has a “La Liste Truc” on his home page (his list of tricks) where he’ll tell you what sex your eggplant is to the correct way to plant a garlic bulb. He puts hot dogs and chips and salsa on a pedestal.

I’m totally on board with that.

I’m a long-time fan of Maureen’s, but I’ve not heard of Genêt’s blog (heading over there next). You are very kind for including me here. Not only do I put chips & salsa and hot dogs on a culinary pedestal — you’re up there too!

Aww, what a great idea and thank you so much for the kind words. I feel the same way about you.
