Fig and Sriracha Blue Cheese Truffles

Fig and Sriracha Blue Cheese Truffles

Fig and Sriracha Blue Cheese Truffles are a little salty, a little spicy and a little sweet. They make the perfect little bite before dinner or as a party app. They also make a damn pretty presentation for holidays or teas.

When I started to play around with this particular recipe, I thought they might be ok, or just good or you know, whatever.

But.

Oh.

My.

Mercy.

I have to say that they exceeded my expectations. This is one of those times that I underestimated mydamnself.

If you like blue cheese, you will absolutely adore these.

The spiciness from the Sriracha – combined with the salty edge you get from blue cheese – and a teensy tiny bit of sweetness from the figs is a flavor blend that was meant to be, y’all.

Meant to be, and off the charts delicious.

The perfect sweet/savory combo.

When I’m planning a party appetizer, or holiday recipes, I try to keep in mind how the flavors will go over with the people that will be eating it. Most of the time, a flavor combination like this goes over pretty well with a mixed crowd.

What I’ve learned over the years is that I underestimate what people will try and/or like. People, generally speaking, are tired of the same shit they make all the time and usually open to new things.

I absolutely LOVE that.

Speaking of sweet/savory – have you had a chance to make my Candied Jalapenos? Don’t cringe; they aren’t set your ass on fire hot.

Unless you actually do want your ass set on fire. You can arrange that with the amount of seeds and ribs you leave on the peppers.

They’re the epitome of sweet and savory with a kick, and one of my very favorite things to make. Just try them out.

As crazy as it sounds, I’ve found that sometimes foods with that complex flavor combination seem to be even more versatile as far as pairing.

You wouldn’t think that would be the case, but that’s one of the reasons I love playing with food – it’s unpredictable and full of “lessons”.

Well, more like surprises that end up being a new fabulous recipe or kitchen trick.

Sometimes, I’ll be experimenting and testing and for whatever reason, I’ll throw some crazy shit together and it works so well but makes zero sense. But, it doesn’t really matter because the end result is good.
